While the amazing 2007 photos of Lionel Messi bathing baby Lamine Yamal would have been the most fitting images to commemorate the 2026 World Cup, this is a scarf about American shame. It shows US star player Folarin Balogun tussling with Bosnia's Tarik Muharemovic and committing a foul which resulted in a red card for Balogun. 

The red card normally would have prevented Balogun from playing in the next match. But Trump called FIFA president Gianni Infantino to see to it Balogun could compete in the US’s subsequent game against Belgium. Of course the US lost anyway, but not without the daily dose of embarrassment on the world stage and the acrid taste of corruption inflecting our enjoyment of futbol!
