This scarf features a scene of lilies and swallows from an ancient Minoan wall painting known as the Spring Fresco. I have also hand painted this motif on the 100 dust jackets of Weavers Discourse #10, published with Gal Šnajder in spring 2026. The Spring Fresco features in the narrative and this scarf marks the release of the book.

The town of Akrotiri on the island of Santorini was buried by a volcanic eruption around 1600 BC and its frescoes are uniquely well preserved for this reason. The Boxing Boys and the Saffron Gatherers are others I was moved by when I encountered them in 2011 on a visit to the Aegean with Matthew Lutz Kinoy.
